This two-channel film installation brings together archival material spanning from the U.S. invasion of Puerto Rico to the mid-20th century. Promotional campaigns for tourism, foreign investment, and militarization are juxtaposed with references to unemployment, overpopulation, race, and cultural difference, revealing the contradictions behind images of progress and prosperity.
