In her first solo exhibition in Berlin, the artist constructs a devotional space that blends ritual, labor, and play. The Church of Care reflects on the cultural and symbolic weight of the “Great Mother” and the Catholic figure of the Virgin Mary, while drawing from the artist’s own experience of motherhood. The installation transforms the gallery into a participatory altar space. A karaoke wall invites voices into the room, accompanied by two handmade headdresses for participants to wear—blurring the line between audience and ritual. At the heart stands a holy figure constructed from an ironing board, adorned with cleaning materials like rubber gloves and microfiber towels. At her feet, ceramic offerings—candles, keys, locks, and chains—suggest both devotion and constraint, illuminating the quiet power and contradictions of care work.
